I am an artist based in South Korea. I observe nature and explore the intrinsic patterns within it. What began as a fascination with gentle ripples on water expanded toward sand dunes and the sweeping ridges of mountain ranges. Though formed through different mechanisms, they share a fundamental commonality: small, individual elements gather to form a grand pattern, and these structures flow and transform slowly over vast spans of time. To me, this goes beyond visual beauty. It inspires a profound sense of wonder and a deep awareness of my own existence.
Wind carries sand to form dunes and breathes movement into still waters. Over long periods, water and wind carve and shape the mountains, tracing their ridges. I bring these time-accumulated patterns of nature into my artistic practice.
My primary medium is paper yarn. It has an organic, tactile quality, yet its texture also evokes a distinctly modern aesthetic. This tension between the natural and the contemporary is what fascinates me most about the material. By engaging the interaction between paper yarn and light, I seek to capture the fluid, three-dimensional textures of nature as they continuously shift and breathe within space. As light moves across the surface, and as the viewer moves before it, the forms shift too.
